TWPA
This project was my Final Major Project for the first year of my Media Production course, where I was tasked with working with my first real client. I chose a Sheringham-based dance company, TWPA, that I wanted to create promotional content for. I produced a poetic narrative short film depicting a young girl growing into a confident and strong young woman through the guidance of TWPA, along with an Instagram reel that incorporated voiceovers from interviews I conducted and b-roll extracts from the film.

PROJECT SIGNIFICANCE
As I shot the dancers bursting with enthusiasm and determination in the strobing lights and smoke, I knew I was capturing something meaningful and significant. For my first year Final Major Project , I created a promotional film for TWPA, a dance company. I experimented creatively with resources, such as using a scissor lift for bird's-eye shots and neon LED poles for match cuts during the dance sequences. I was deeply inspired by the world that Tom created for those girls, compelling them to get up and work hard for a reason, and providing them hope and direction. Seeing the powerful role community played in their lives reinforced my desire to create a world in my films for people to escape to, as a leader of a fantasy that inspires and uplifts people. That promotional film for TWPA wasn’t just a project; it was the moment I realised film was the perfect medium to express my imagination and bring visual beauty to life.

SKILL DEMONSTRATION:
In addition to the creative outcomes of this project, I chose to include examples of my professional email communication with the client to demonstrate my ability to manage collaboration effectively.
Exploring opportunities in creative arts with my tutor,
Gianna Hindmarsh
My college tutor, Gianna, knew of an opportunity to produce a promotional video for a local dance organization called Arts East. Another college tutor in the dance department in our creative arts building, Tom Withington, was part of it. However, when she reached out to find out if this opportunity was still available, she found that it was needed over the February half-term, which has already passed, so they no longer needed the video. Although, when speaking to Tom, he said that he ran his own independent dance company, which is highly talented, and would love to have a promotional video made for their company.

COMMUNICATING TO ESTABLISH A CLIENT BRIEF
Reaching out to my first potential client,
Tom Withington
I decided to write an email to Tom Withington, who is a tutor for the Dance Diploma course at my college and also runs an independent dance school, about my tutor Gianna mentioning the opportunity for me to produce a promotional video for his independent dance school over the next few months. I made sure to ask if he has any specifications for the content of the video so that I can propose some ideas to him.

Response from Tom Withington
Much to my delight, Tom was friendly and enthusiastic about collaborating with me and responded with answers to my questions that would ensure that the final product aligns perfectly with his expectations. This allowed me to begin to draft some proposals and concepts for the promotional video.
